The Marvelous Wonderettes is written with a specific costume color assigned to each character, as is reflected in the design.  In order to customize these colors to best suit the skin tones of the actresses, Abbie Hagen created custom color palettes to select shades for each look.  Shown here is an example of the palettes she made, for Betty Jean (green) and Missy (orange).  These include color samples of the actress's skin and hair color, along with the character costume colors chosen to compliment their natural coloring.
